Bronze Accreditation for TFL Stars Travel Project

Back
October 18th 2022

Gaynes School has achieved the Bronze level award for Transport for London’s (TFL) STARS accreditation scheme.

STARS stands for Sustainable Travel: Active, Responsible, Safe and our participation in the scheme contributes towards our vision towards safe, responsible and active travel to reduce emissions.

Last year, a team of Years 7, 8, and 9 TFL STAR ambassadors led a number of activities and assemblies for students, centred on responsible travel when travelling to school and how this can effect themselves and the environment. One of our initiatives was the step-count challenge during Active travel week. Steps were counted every morning with the students with the highest number of steps earning prizes.

TFL STARS TRAVEL PROJECT 2022 - 2023

Our aim for this academic year will be focused on maintaining and promoting safe and responsible travel on the 370 Bus as well as other TFL public transport services. We will also encourage active and sustainable travel to improve air quality and reduce congestion around the school, further supporting the well-being of students and those in our community.

Individuals in KS3 have the opportunity to lead the project becoming TFL STARS for this year’s project. Interested applicants can apply via Google classroom.
