Metacognition And University Visit With Make Happen
BackA select group of 25 Year 9 pupils have participated in a 5 week workshop that culminated with a visit to the University of Essex.
For each of the five weeks a facilitator from Make Happen introduced the pupils to different problem solving and thinking techniques that can be applied across the curriculum in many different subjects. The visit to the University not only allowed the pupils to apply what they had learnt to various challenges set by the University such as a Prospectus Hunt, and a budgeting task but gave them an opportunity to look round a campus university and talk to current students. Our Gaynes students came back from the visit with renewed vigour to pursuing higher education and exploring future university opportunities.
