Year 8 National Gallery online talk
BackOn Tuesday 14th January 60 Year 8 students had the opportunity to attend an online talk in school, hosted by the National Gallery. The first part of the talk centred on the Gallery itself, where it is in London, what it looks like on the outside and what it looks like on the inside. What type of art work you can view in the gallery and who the work belongs to. The second part of the talk focused on secret symbols in paintings. Students looked at 3 paintings and learnt how to understand what is happening in a painting by looking for clues. They practised their guided viewing and their memory skills and then used what they could see to makes decisions about what was happening and why the artist might want to show that in a painting. They had the oportunity to answer lots of questions and work in pairs and proved to be very clever in their interpretations and obsrvations. Well done Year 8.
