Gaynes Theatre Trip

Back
November 1st 2022

In November, students in years 10 and 11 will be visiting the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch to watch JEKYLL AND HYDE. This supports their learning in GCSE English Literature as it is based on one of the novels that students study. Students are looking forward to comparing this version, which tells the story of the original novel, to the version that was performed in school by the National Theatre last year, which was a sequel to the novel set in the modern day and based on a feminist uprising.

In December, students in years 7 and 8 will be visiting London's West End to see a performance of THE DEMON DENTIST at the Bloomsbury Theatre. This comical play is based on the bestselling novel by David Walliams.

In January, the National Theatre will return to Gaynes School to perform their latest schools show: SHUT UP, I'M DREAMING. This is an exciting new devised piece, using physical theatre and dance to explore the experiences of young people in 2022. The National Theatre have collaborated with physical theatre company The Pappy Show to devise this show, following workshops in schools in the North East of England. We are thrilled to welcome the National Theatre Company back into school and look forward to developing further links with them.
